***TERMS*** Pets are strictly placed as family companions on a spay/neuter contract to approved homes only. Shelties are my hobby - not a business - therefore I have puppies available only occasionally. I DO NOT supply to pet stores, puppy mills or dog wholesalers. When you purchase a pet Sheltie from me, the papers are marked as AKC limited registration. This means that the puppy is from an AKC registered litter but is to be registered as a pet only. The puppy must be spayed or neutered before you will receive those AKC papers. Upon proof of surgery, papers will be given to you. I obtain genetic clearances on my adult dogs for Hips (hip dysplasia) Eyes (CERF for eye problems) Von Willebrand's disease (blood clotting disorder) Puppies are born and raised in the home. They have age appropriate vaccinations and have a written health guarantee. |
When inquiring about purchase of a puppy, have you considered all the work involved in raising a puppy? It takes a lot of time and effort to housetrain and raise a puppy. If you work outside the home and there is no one at home during the day to train the puppy, it is not possible to expect to be able to get a puppy trained to go potty outside as puppies need to make trips out the door many times a day. If you constantly cage a puppy while you are away you cannot expect a puppy to be able to hold itself and you will face coming home to a soiled cage and messy puppy. Some people try using methods of potty pads or litter training as used for cats. This still entails keeping the puppy confined to a smaller area with such as a wire exercise pen. The puppy may train itself to use the pads or litter but this method is not readily transferable to going outside without you being there to make that transition. You can also hire a dog sitter to be there during the day or make several trips to your home to let the puppy out on a schedule. This of course will be an additional expense and you need to be sure to hire a responsible person that can give you references. Please think this through before acquiring a young puppy. |
